Ebony is a black velvet chinchilla. She is a female. She is turning fourteen years old in August. Did you know chichillas - when they are loved pets, can live well into their twenties? She likes to run, eat, and hide from me, too! It started out when we got her as she was so shy, but it became a game we play.
Ebony is very special because she was our first chinchilla. She wasn't kept in good health, so we rescued her. She lived in her dustbath instead of an igloo or house. Dustbaths are just for what they need for grooming themselves, not a place to actually live -- imagine if your only furniture was your bathtub!
We gave her an igloo and eventually got her a felllow chinchilla to be her friend. She has come out of her shell a lot since we got her, and it makes us happy when she can be having fun and literally bouncing off the walls. They are the most happiest chinchillas on the planet!
