The Driver - Paul von Guggenberg

Paul von Guggenberg lives with his wife Susanna and Stephanie, Maximilian, Nikolaus, Leonhard and Charlotte in Oberbozen (South Tyrol) and works as a consultant.

During his many participation's at the Pharaohs Rally, at the beginning as a copilot and further on as a driver, he reached very good rankings in the years from 1987 to 1991. In the year 1988 he reaches the 1st position in the Diesel category at the Baja Aragon in Spain. In 1993 he is for the first time on the podium with his 3rd overall position in the Quatar Baja Cube and 1994 he reaches in the last race of the F.I.A. World Championship in the United Arab Emirates the very good position of the 12th overall, right behind the official Mitsubishi driver Bruno Saby, winner of the "Paris - Dakar" 1993 and in front of Cyril Neveu, the five times winner of the "Paris - Dakar". In 1995 he wins the 1st Red Sea Baja Cube in front of the former formula 1 star Clay Regazzoni and reaches at the Tunis Rally 1996 the 12th position overall, being the best private driver. At the U.A.E. Desert Challenge 1996 he is 10th overall. In the first race of the 1997 season at Pordenone (Italy) he wins the diesel category and at the Tunis Rally 1997 he has to quit the race on the last day, lying in the 12th position overall, because of a technical defect. At the U.A.E. Desert Challenge 1997 he won the T1 class.

Because of these exceptional results in the past 10 years Paul von Guggenberg is hired by the BMW Team Schalber for the Paris - Dakar '98, the most difficult off road race in the world. After 12.000 unbelievably hard kilometers in one of the most difficult editions of this competition (more than 60% of the competitors had to quit the race) he reaches Dakar in his Land Rover Discovery. At the Paris - Dakar '99 he participated as the fast assistance car for the official KTM team. But he could not repeat his outstanding performance of the previous year due to an engine breakdown.

Beside the rally sport Paul von Guggenberg practices other sports like skiing
, golf and motorcycle driving.
