The city is located southwest of Salzburg in the Austrian Alps. It is located at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier in the high mountain region of the Hohe Tauern. Together with the city of Zell am See, the municipality is known as a holiday destination of Zell am See-Kaprun.
There are over 1 million overnight stays here every year. The number of accommodation options and restaurants is correspondingly large.
