Streckhof mit Schnapsbrennerei

Streckhof with distillery

Juri Troy Architects as Architects

The existing “Streckhof” of the family should be extended by a residential house. The building sits carefully between the still intact structures of the neighboring barns and uses the same materials: wood and brick. Booth gable walls are made of 50cm burned vertical coring brick plastered with uncolored lime-cement outside and clay-lime inside. The entire upper floor and attic, as well as the folding shutters are made of domestic silver fir. The floor on the ground floor was created using the old technique of clay-casein coating. Handmade tiles and insulating materials made from renewable raw materials complete the material concept, which is based on natural building materials.

Due to the generously openable, foldable sliding glazing on both sides, the entire living area can be opened to the garden. This not only gives the pleasant feeling of sitting almost outdoor, but also provides great natural ventilation in the warm summer months.

In the existing Barn next to it, the owner’s distillery was installed as a restrained, dark colored spruce box. Here, the own fruit yield is distilled into exquisite treasures. At the 7 m long wooden table it can also be extensively tasted and celebrated.
