Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP) handed over nine splinter-proof tractors of the Steyr 6300 Terrus CVT type to the Allentsteig military training area.
Almost half of the military training area is in acute danger from duds. In order to meet official requirements, agricultural and forestry work must nonetheless be carried out in this zone.
The Allentsteig military training area is the largest military training area in Austria at 157 square kilometers. 110,65 square kilometers of this are nature conservation Natura 2000 area. A natural jewel that is unique in terms of the predominant flora and fauna in Austria.
With more than 200 shooting days and around 100.000 overnight stays per year, the military training area has a high occupancy rate. With the Allentsteig garrison, the armed forces are also one of the largest employers in the Waldviertel region with around 500 permanent jobs.
“You can see how broad the scope of duties of the armed forces is. From airspace monitoring to landscape maintenance in the Natura 2000 area. All of these challenges can only be met with a serious budget. I am therefore very proud that for the third time in a row we have managed to achieve the highest defense budget in history for the armed forces. This means that we can also provide you with adequate and safe work equipment to carry out your order, ”says Tanner.
