Saalbach-Hinterglemm Tips

Beginners

  • Saalbach:
    • The runs around the Bernkogel and Kohlmais lifts are a great place to start out.
    • Route 2a has a gentle gradient and some amazing views. At 3.5km run it’s a bit of leg burner – the hut break at the bottom is well earned after this one!
    • Avoid piste 86 unless you intend to end there. There’s no lift at the bottom only the bus or a trek.
  • Hinterglemm:
    • There’s plenty of beginners slopes on the base of the Schatberg for the gentlest pistes
    • As you get more adventurous th 12er Kogel I & II lifts gets you to route 30. Or you can stop off half way up for the wide and gentle 37 and 38 runs.
  • Leogang:
    • There’s some beginner slopes at the base of the Asitz lift.
    • After that just head up any of the lifts from the village and you’ll find a good selection of pistes to try out.

Intermediates

  • With 60% of the runs being intermediate, there are plenty of options for skiers at this level.
  • The gentle but long (7km) Jausernabfahrt run is a notable one for its panoramic views.

Experts

  • There’s not a huge amount of steeps in Saalbach-Hinterglemm the most notable being 1b on the Schattberg (Saalbach) and 36 from the summit of the Zwölferkogel (Hinterglemm).
  • The park in Hinterglemm has a good range and is floodlit to get some bonus time on the slopes.
