A beautiful climb, 2 hours to the top, the last 4 km become really tough, because of the percentages and because you have already had 10 km 10% or more. Afterwards, you will be rewarded once more when you continue along the Zillertal Höhenstrasse. What a wonderful route!
Good road surface, little traffic, and even fewer other cyclists... (26-6-22)

On a sunny 1st September we drove up from Hippach. A monster of a climb, but very worthwhile. Because the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse is not a through road - you pay toll to get on it and it only goes up for tourism - there is little traffic. There is some local traffic for the villages on the mountainside and some cars and an occasional bus with tourists, but generally you cycle in silence on a good road surface. You need that, because the gradients hurt so much that you don't want to be busy with anyone else. I don't recognize the 9% sections in the picture above; except for a short relatively flat section in the middle, my Garmin didn't indicate anywhere below 10%. 11% to 12% is the standard, with an occasional short burst towards 15%. If you have an eye for it, the views are fantastic and once you've reached the top, the Zillertal Höhenstrasse itself (although with poorer tarmac) is also well worth the effort.

Very steep climb. Breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Perfect road surface. I would only recommend this one in dry weather. Descent is the icing on the cake

Zeer pittige klim. Adembenemend mooi landschap. Perfect wegdek.
