Description
Deutsch: Ostansicht der Pöstlingbergkirche in der oberösterreichischen Stadtgemeinde Linz.
Vor mehr als 300 Jahren trug der Laienbruder Franz Anton Obermayr aus dem Kapuzinerkloster in Urfahr eine Holzstatue der Muttergottes auf den Pöstlingberg und brachte sie bei einem Wetterkreuz an. Dies war der Auslöser für die Entstehung von Legenden über Wunderheilungen. Ab 1720 wurde die Figur schließlich zu einer Art Pilgerstätte und schon bald errichtete man eine Holzkapelle am damals noch dicht bewaldeten Pöstlingberg. In weiterer Folge stiftete Joseph Gundomar Graf Starhemberg eine Wallfahrtskirche. Diese wurde schließlich um 1742 nach den Plänen des Baumeisters Johann Matthias Krinner errichtet und am 9. Dezember 1748 geweiht. Die endgültige Fertigstellung nach aufgetretenen statischen Problemen sowie einem weiteren Ausbau wird auf das Jahr 1774 datiert. Die Silhouette der Pöstlingbergkirche in ihrer derzeitigen Form prägt das Stadtbild seit 1891/92ː [1].
