Summary[edit]

Description
English: Floor plan of the Parish Church of St. Peter im Moos in the Neue Welt landscape near Muthmannsdorf, municipality Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf, district Wiener Neustadt-Land District, Lower Austria / Austria / EU. Graphic with the summary of the research results on the axis bend (different orientation days of the axes of nave and choir) by Erwin Reidinger. Shown in red is the Romanesque foundation building from 1136 with its four orientation days according to the rising sun as laid down in the building programme (nave: axis to Peter and Paul, north wall on the 7th Sunday after Pentecost, south wall on the 8th Sunday after Pentecost and choir on the 9th Sunday after Pentecost). This explains why the ground plan of the nave is trapezoidal and the church has a bend in the axis between the nave and the choir. The green illustration refers to the Gothic choir extension from 1418. When it was built, the tradition of orientation according to the rising sun (metaphor for Jesus Christ) was still adopted (north wall to Mary Magdalene and south wall 9th Sunday after Pentecost in 1136).
