Dawn was a 27 year old bible student and missionary, who was a student at Issaquah's Lutheran Bible Institute. She was found strangled on Mother's Day, in her apartment. A neighbor of hers was found guilty of her murder.

She is remembered as a warmhearted person who devoted her life to God.

Dawn grew up in Olympia, WA and graduated with honors from Olympia High School in 1986. She lived in France for a year before earning a bachelor's degree, with honors, in French, German and religion at California Lutheran University in Ventura County.

After college, she lived in Olympia, WA, for several months, then in Japan for two years, teaching English and volunteering in church activities.

She is survived by her parents Carl and Dotty Fehring and sister Joy.

There was a service in celebration of Dawn's life at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1601 North St. in Olympia, WA. After regular services on Sunday, church members planted a Japanese red maple in her memory.

The church is accepting donations to go toward mission work in Japan. Checks can be made payable to the church, designated in memory of Dawn Fehring and sent to the above address, ZIP code 98501.
