The Wienerwald are celebrating their big comeback! With a mix of tradition and modern gastronomy, the legendary restaurant chain opens its first house in Torfhaus in the Harz mountains to begin a new chapter in its impressive history.

Anyone who recently wandered through the picturesque Torfhaus in the Harz Mountains could experience a veritable renaissance of craftsmanship. The townscape was dominated by a vibrant construction site, bearing witness to the soon to shine of the once legendary Wienerwald. This gastronomic phoenix rises from its ashes and chooses the touristy spot of Torfhaus for its first new restaurant.
A culinary balancing act between tradition and modernity
“Tradition in mind, modernity in focus.” The Wienerwald has reinterpreted its culinary offer under this leitmotif. The grilled chicken, once the flagship of the house, is of course still enthroned on the menu. But the modern palate demands more: vegetarian and vegan options, trendy bowls and classic dishes with a contemporary twist expand the range. The in-house preparation of side dishes, seasoning mixes and marinades, which emphasise the unique taste experience of the Wienerwald, deserves special attention.

With a capacity of an impressive 500 seats both indoors and outdoors, the new Wienerwald ensures that both locals and tourists will always find a spot.
According to Thies Borch-Madsen, managing director of Wienerwald: “The idea of the new Wienerwald is to present our guests with a cosy, comfortable place to spend some quality time here with family or friends.”

Wienerwald on course for expansion
The comeback in Torfhaus is just the beginning.
