Why did you choose to go to Leoben, Austria?

I chose to go to Leoben to study petroleum engineering, as the Montanuniversität is ranked one of the best in this field.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Living in Leoben is not very expensive compared to Vienna for example, as you wouldn't need to pay for transportation, and rent is around €300 a month. A fair €600 to €700 would be enough.

What is the student lifestyle like in Leoben?

Leoben is filled with students, locals and internationals. The student lifestyle is mainly university and parties. Organizations might hold some events during the year.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Leoben to other students?

Leoben is vey quiet and nice and there are not many distractions, perfect for studying. It is not far from the big cities. And Austria in general is in the middle of Europe, so if you like to travel, it's the perfect location.

The university is also nice as long as you understand how the system works. So yeah I would recommend coming here!

What is the food like?

Austria doesn't have that many different traditional dishes but Italian and Chinese restaurants are always there for you!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Leoben?

It depends if you are willing to rent an apartment or a room in a student dormitory. For an apartment, a caution needs to be paid (2 or 3 months) plus the furniture if there are any. For a room in a dormitory, it will be a bit more expensive than the apartment but you don't need to pay the caution or to buy the furniture.

How much does it cost to live in Leoben?

It depends on how much you spend.. But if we count only food and rent and some expenses, I would say €500 to €600 is enough.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

German is not the easiest language on earth, but almost everyone speaks english here. There are some language courses in the university that can be taken for different levels.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Leoben from your city?

By plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Leoben?

Leoben is not the best "night" city. In the weekdays there's nothing much to do at night except for restaurants or cafes. On the weekends, there's sometimes parties in clubs, restaurants and cafes are also open. But I would recommend to go to Graz.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Leoben?

C&C Wok, restaurants in LCS...

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

People come to Leoben especially for hiking. It is the green heart of Europe.
