JonBenet Ramsey: A&E documentary explores father's diary, DNA test results

This Labor Day, A&E will revisit one of the most infamous murders of the ’90s: JonBenét Ramsey.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Ramsey’s death in December 1996, the network will air The Killing of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered, a two-hour documentary on Monday, Sept. 5, at 9 p.m. ET. Ramsey’s parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, reported their 6-year-old daughter missing and said that they found a ransom note. Soon after, the body of the child beauty pageant contestant was discovered in the family’s Boulder, Colorado, home. To this day, the murder has not been solved.

A&E aims to shed new light on the infamous case, and declares that the documentary’s “exclusive and shocking DNA evidence sheds new light on who actually committed the murder.” On Friday, the network released a series of clips from The Truth Uncovered that include an interview with John, in which he shares diary entries from that time and discusses the agony he felt after the death of his daughter. Another clip explores a stun-gun theory, and a third delves into the results of a DNA test on a blood spot found on JonBenét’s underwear that ruled out any family member as a suspect — and how Boulder police did not turn this information over to the district attorney’s office for months.
