Kurt Russell was 'in the driveway' at O.J. Simpson chase, Kate and Oliver Hudson recall

The siblings also recounted Russell's run-ins with Ted Bundy and the Manson family.

Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson are recalling Kurt Russell's close encounters with some of America's most notorious figures, including O.J. Simpson, Ted Bundy, and the Manson family.

While visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, Kate noted that Russell, who is in a decades-long relationship with her and Oliver's mom, Goldie Hawn, has the magical ability to always find himself "in some sort of scenario" that people would never expect.

"He's always crossing paths, somehow, with, uh, killers. Like, serial killers," Oliver added. "Actually, he was on camera when O.J. Simpson drove into his house. He was in the driveway. You could see him on KTLA, like, 'Huh?' My dad. I was like, 'What is he doing there?'"

Kate explained that the family was watching the NBA Finals at a friend's house, who happened to live near Simpson, when the athlete's infamous 1994 police chase occurred.

"It was the big chase. And Kurt… O.J. was on the 405 [freeway] and Kurt all of sudden just went, 'Oh, he's going home,'" she recalled. "Next thing you know, he gets in the car and he leaves and he goes to O.J.'s house. I don't know why! Just to see what happened, you know? And we're all like, 'Where are you going?' He's like, 'I'll be right back.' And then he goes with his friend."

She continued: "Literally, we're watching the news because we're watching the NBA Finals, it was interrupted. And we saw our dad on television behind the caution tape. It was so…" She then began to laugh in disbelief.

Simpson was famously acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in a high-profile trial in 1995. However, he was later found liable for their deaths in a 1997 civil case brought on by the victims' families and ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages.

In 2007, Simpson was found guilty on kidnapping and armed robbery charges and sentenced to up to 33 years in prison. He served nine years before being released in 2017.

But the Simpson chase isn't the only strange run-in that Russell has had in his 72 years. Oliver told host Jimmy Kimmel that Russell also crossed paths with serial killer Ted Bundy and once "beat up" one of Charles Manson's followers, Tex Watson. Kate, however, interjected to note that she "might not believe either of these stories," before adding, "But I'm into it. They're interesting." (EW has reached out to Russell for comment.)

As Oliver tells it, Russell was living in Colorado when Bundy made his infamous escape from Pitkin County Courthouse in 1977.

"This is a crazy story. Kurt was camping, he had his plate of food, went to get a beer or something, comes back and his plate of food is gone," he said. "Ted Bundy then gets caught and recounts how he survived after escaping and he said he found a guy camping in the woods with his friends, he leaves the thing and he go grabs and eats his food."

"Oh my God!” Kimmel replied. "Not only is he a murderer, he's a thief!"
