A crime spree is sweeping the US at the moment – as 550 advertising cut-outs of David Hasselhoff have been stolen

The life-sized posters – part of an advertising campaign for Cumberland Farms – have been taken from stores in Florida and New England.

Speaking during an interview on Boston's WHDH radio station, The Hoff seemed to be in a relaxed mood about the thefts.

"I think it's fantastic and I encourage everybody out there to go get more," he stated.

Hasselhoff went on to note he finds it humbling that after some many years in the limelight, people still seem to be interested in him.

Cumberland Farms' brand strategy expert Kate Ngo observed only 20 posters remain from the original 570 run.

She added they are "flattered by the attention" and they want everyone to enjoy The Hoff.

It means there are a lot of houses in these areas with a big cut-out of The Hoff.
