Here an other (repacked) box from Gustloffwerke Hirtenberg. Packed during Wartime in 4 44 (Lot 4 from 1944) as stamped on the backside.
As this ammo bears also the old headstamp of 4 stars, it is NOT a production from wartime, but a solution to make Money out of the huge stocks left over from before the war. Most of this sorts of packing is from Mid 1943 to mid 1944 and in my opinion a last ditch, to sell this goods to interested parties outside of “Grossdeutschland”. Maybe Sweden, who used this caliber…
There was also a sale of a lot of pinfires, who knews for what Country…certainly not for Germany or former Austria…
see here:
Here an other box of handgun ammo (in my opinion also REPACKED newly for sale): Even as they used HP Numbers on the box…
This package CONTAINS HS : LEBEL S.I.M, certainly not made during wartime by HP…
As I was very often in the old days in HP (than when HP was still working), i had access to a lot of Paperwork…there was no mention of any production of civilian PISTOL ammo like this exotic calibers, during wartime.
But here are a few box-copies from Rifle-ammo stamped on the boxes as from 1943 to 1944 under use of old HP-Numbers on the boxes. This are maybe also only packed by Gustloff-Werke from existing stock, to sell…
Here are the pics:
Front-and backside of Box…
and here:
HP Number 1001/990S Softnose 13Gram bullet
Here:
Same case number, but Bullet number 1015S (FMJ)
Enjoy the pics…
An interesting time, and I wish, I knew, where this ammo went to…
Considering all this, it is not correct, to state that packets which are stamped with dates from 43 and 44 with H headstamps or similar ones, are MADE during war.
This is only sure, for ammo which HAVE a stylish G in the headstamp, but not the other ones…
