(WLUK) -- The first warm, sunny day in a while in Northeast Wisconsin came with an extra treat for sky watchers.
A halo appeared around the sun Wednesday afternoon. It was visible from locations throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service, a halo results from light refracting off ice crystals present in a thin layer of cirrus clouds. Halos often appear white, but can show colors as well.
