Göttlesbrunn

Wine-growing community in the Carnuntum wine-growing region of Lower Austria. It was already mentioned in the 11th century as "Gotisprune" and named as a wine-growing municipality in the Landkompass published in 1673. The village of Arbesthal also belongs to the large municipality. The vineyard area is about 300 hectares, of which one third is planted with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Blauer Portugieser. The three most important white wine varieties are Pinot Blanc, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. Biotopes have been created between the vineyards, which are filled by rainwater. Well-known vineyards are Altenberg, Geizbillen, Hagelsberg (with Subriede Bilderspitz), Haidacker, Neuberg, Rosenberg and Schüttenberg. The "Carnuntum Roman Wine Route" leads through Göttlesbrunn. East of Göttlesbrunn lies the municipality of Höflein with the vineyards Bärnreiser (90% owned by winegrowers from Göttlesbrunn), Bühl (with sub-vineyards Aubühl, Kirchbühl) and Scheibner. Well-known producers in the municipality of Göttlesbrunn are Edelmann Christian, Glatzer Walter, Grassl Philipp, Lager Markus, Markowitsch Gerhard, Markowitsch Lukas, Nepomukhof, Netzl Franz, Oppelmayer, Pimpel, Pitnauer and Taferner Franz.
