Ed Liesch Promoted to Athletic Director

BEL AIR, Md. – Harford Community College has officially announced Associate Athletic Director Ed Liesch as the college's next Athletic Director.

"We have a long history of producing winning programs and I am honored to be a part of Harford Athletics," said Liesch.

Liesch was hired as Harford's Associate Athletic Director back in October of 2019. He stepped into the interim AD role after then Athletic Director Estevan Vasquez announced his departure in January of 2021 and guided the athletic department through the 2021 spring season.

Prior to joining the Harford, Liesch served as Athletic Director at Central Penn College (CPC) for eight years, overseeing all intercollegiate, intramural and community league athletic programs.  He helped transition the Knights from the NJCAA/EPCC to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and grew the program from two sports to eight.
The CPC men's basketball program was particularly successful under his watch, making appearances in six consecutive USCAA Basketball National Tournaments. Liesch also took on various other roles during his time at CPC, including Assistant Dean of Student Services (2009-13) and Director of Residence Life (2008-09).

Liesch, a native of Hershey, Pennsylvania, received his bachelor's degree in communication and journalism from Shippensburg University in 1997. He recently finished his master's degree in athletic administration from William Woods University this past spring.
