Obituary

In loving memory of Joseph Patrick Matzen, a devoted father and sports enthusiast. Joe was born April 5, 1957 to Bill A. and Mary Gladys (Keerins) Matzen of Johnday (IZ Ranch) OR. Joe was known for his passion for golf, prowess as a pool shark, and avid interest in all sports. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lelaini Kay Soiland Matzen, and brothers Robert Samuel Matzen and William Loyal Matzen. He is survived by his oldest brother Bonham John "BJ" Matzen, daughters Mary Elizabeth Matzen and Theresa Marie (Maja) Kovacek-Matzen, and fondly remembered by his 4 grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephews and cherished friends and chosen family. Joe brought joy to all those around him, and his legacy of love, laughter, and sportsmanship will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched.

Joseph's daughters are planning a celebration of life for the Spring in Umatilla, OR. More information will be posted on social media by Theresa and Mary when plans have been finalized.
