Default Does anyone autocross their F-body

Does any one autocross their LT1 camaro? I was thinking that it would be fun to do, so I was wondering if anyone here already does it. I'm still not exactly sure if the F-body would be a good platform for road racing / auto cross events?!?! Mabye some of you could direct me to a website that covers this topic.

Thank,

The f-body is an excellent platform to autox with. I know a few former ags that have won at the SCCA nationals in f bodies.

The texas a&m sports car club is having an autox in a week and a half, on NOV 13 (sunday). It is 15 dollars for non members. It dosent get much cheaper than that.

And the course is being designed by Roger Johnson, and SCCA course designer. He has a few nationals courses under his belt. It should be fun.

If you can make it from Seabrook it will be worth it.

A lot of people sucessfully AX and Road Race both LT1 and LS1 fbodys. I've been AXing for two full years now. Sam Strano is one of the best if not THE best fbody AX drivers around. He sells handling upgrades for fbodys and posts on here sometimes. There is another forum that is dedicated to fbody AX and RR; it is www.frrax.com

The fbody platform can probably be used for more different types of racing than any other: autoX, open road race, land speed racing, and drag racing.

dont sweat it, pulling the Gs on the track is way better than running on the street. I ran an 88 Iroc with 4:10 mosier, 405hp tpis TPI motor, t-56, baers, and suspension mods. It was awesome. once you race on a clean course with good tires you'll be hooked. I autoxd my GTO last week and I caught the bug again. lol.

For autoX, the number 1 mod is the steering wheel spacer . . . that organic servo that takes up the space between the steering wheel and the seat. In other words, spend the mod money on a driving school and just hit every event and get seat time. You won't need anything else for at least the first year.

After that, get some Koni's, then race tires, then the other stuff like sway bars and springs.

Yeah you would think that, but they still seem to do well, at least at a local level.

I wish more F-bods would auto-x in my area. I hate being the only one there since I can't really compare my times to a similiar car, and maybe I am a little ****, but I don't really feel comfortable with others driving my car.

I have Autocrossed my 01' SS the past couple years, and Finally got to take it Road Racing yesterday at Nelsons Ledges Road Course in NE Ohio, It was a blast, I was tearing up the road course yesterday , Nelsons Ledges is one of the fastest tracks around, Autocrossing your F-Body is fun, but Road Racing your F-Body is where the action is, In my opinion these cars are alot better suited for Road Racing than Autocrossing... Just my 2 cents though, love both kinds of racing, just like Road Racing better, I have my car built for everything, Drag Racing, Autocrossing, and Road Racing, Full Suspension and 6-pt Roll Cage and It does Great for all three kinds of racing!!!! Have Fun Racing your Cars!!!!
