Must-see medieval castle ruins! Great for kids and adults alike. The audioguide tour brings the castle to life with stories, fun facts, sound effects, and minstrel and church music. Don't miss the diorama exhibit depicting an old legend full of your usual suspects - love, betrayal, revenge, and bloodshed.
Although we came on a very foggy fall day, and didn't see any of the view, it was still worth the walk through history.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John F.North York, Canada18881722May 14, 2014
This is a ruined castle, not a preserved one, as per its name. Nonetheless it is quite fun to go through with some reconstructed areas and a lovely view of the Wachau section of the Danube. This would be a great place for kids as there are lots of things to climb up to. Very picturesque and good for photographers.

One of the best castles we have seen. It is a ruined castle but designed to be seen at all levels. They have ramps and walks built so you can see most of the ruin. Go for lunch or early dinner. Food is very good and very reasonable. Beer is served also. A gem on the Danube. Great for photos.
