Located in old town Zurich, this is a wonderful place to walk around and look at the shops, eat dinner, grab a drink, and see some local landmarks.
With plenty of restaurants, you are bound to find a place with good food and great atmosphere! The options are endless. Multiple shops line the street, from designer labels, to old antique shops that sell Swiss knives.
The old river runs along side the street, as well as some popular church's, including the Grossmünster
Church. The area has beautiful architecture, and during the holiday season, is lined with Christmas lights.
As we walked along, we enjoyed window shopping, ending with a good dinner. Definitely a good way to spend the evening.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2012
The Niederdorf (or Niederdorfli in Swiss-German) is the old town running along the east side of the Limmat River. Filled with bars, restaurants, shops, cafes, and a few old adult cinemas, it also contains the Grossmünster church, which is a huge Romanesque-style Protestant church and also one of the 3 main churches in Zürich (the other two being the Fraumünster and St. Peterskirche).
Perfect for a stroll during the day, you can see a mix of the old and new amongst the winding alleys. Also a popular spot for nightlife, but ladies, be wary of wearing stilettos, as they'll get caught in the narrow cobblestone streets.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jessica S.Council Bluffs, IA127247221Jul 29, 2014
My husband and I enjoyed looking at all the expensive shops that we would die to be able to shop in. There's everything that you would ever need here, including shopping, eateries, clubs, and cafes.
The patchwork of alleys is very unique and the little boutiques with their displays were incredible to look at.
Bring your walking shoes, there is a lot of uphill walking.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (prajua…)Zürich, Switzerland626Mar 12, 2009
The best place to shop (plenty of shoes shops!) eat, drink, go out, watch the architecture or to visit art galaries. This place is allways alive. It doesn't matter whenever you go. The best way to explore the district is to walk. If i want to shop i will go on saturdays. If i want to eat/ drink something then you have plenty choice of bars, restaurants. But becarefull where you go inside! At some bars are not clear what's inside. Between a shoeshop you have also the nightclubs.
