Despite all the negative Yelp reviews, I actually enjoyed this tour. I have never seen a real live sea grotto before and to be underground in a miners cave and a lake was pretty cool.

Europe's largest underground sea grotto! It was an old mining cave in 1913 then it got flooded which became the grotto.

We did a walking tour through the tunnels and then a boat ride. Our tour guide spoke German and then used an audio player to play the English translation.

There was no light for 20 years and they used blind horses to lead and carry equipment. The lake doesn't seem to be that deep from the boat. No signs of animal life. The movie Three Musketeers was filmed here with a 20 minute cave scene.

Highly recommend. It can be a bit chilly in the cave and be aware that there are areas with steps. After the tour, you're allowed to wander around as you head towards the exit.

Don't do it. First off, it took us forever to figure out the trains to get here. Once we arrived we were excited for the tour. However the entire thing was in German. At the very end our tour guide said two sentences in clear English. Meaning he totally could have at least said a summary sentence for us the whole time. I realize that English is not the native language here but it's a tourist trap w tons of English speakers. Even the boat ride was short and uneventful. Boring and not worth it at all. Tour guide was also super rude to us!

Tourist trap. The lake itself is beautiful, but the actual boat ride takes only about 5 minutes. The rest of the tour is fast walking across the mine with very brief interruptions of the guide. The scenes that aim to recreate the life and work of miners and horses look pathetic and unnatural. They even charge for blanket rental, though it's 8 degrees celsius in the mines.

BEWARE! This place is a major dump of a tourist trap. There is a tiny gift shop and cafe attached to the register where you pay the 9 euro per person entry fee. If your fortunate they will run the tour every 20 mins, however, we waited 35 mins in the freezing cold. They do NOT give tours in any other language except for German. No audio guides even. You are charged an extra 1 euro for a booklet with 1 page in many languages that gives a brief synopsis of the place (you can get for free online). Inside, you walk along a well beaten path in a small cave with a few stops (dark) then you come upon a small lake, ride a boat around in a 8 minute circle and it ends with a sign begging for tips for your tour guide. The guide waits at the exit with his cup for money. To top it off, the only bathroom is a shack outside where you have to pay! Waste of money and time!

What a disappointment. I was looking forward to an interesting tour of a beautiful underground lake that had rich historical background, but instead I got a dumpy tourist trap. Our guide was nice, and one of the first Austrians I have met who would actually smile for extended periods of time (and I am from Austria). However, it is an extremely stupid tour. All about blind horses and no emphasis on the concentration camp that inhabited the mine during World War II. Then comes the boat ride... what a joke. It's a dingy boat that circles the lake in about five minutes with a wonderful view of a man-made fountain that spurts water out for about six seconds before the boat passes. I did not get the scenic tour over the beautiful, other-worldly lake that I expected. Awful.

This place was cool. Careful walking through we almost slipped a couple of times. Its not a huge landmark but the story to this place is really interesting. Spoiler alert...if ur a fan of three musketeers ur really gonna like this place. This place is a hot tourist spot for large groups so it gets crowded! It gets 4 stars because the guide during the boat ride shared no info except how deep the water was.
