The legendary Plus name is making a comeback in the STEYR® tractor range, with the pre-view of a new five-strong series of 80-120hp STEYR Plus models set to succeed the brand’s Kompakt range. With the small tractor segment representing the largest market volume in Europe, the new STEYR Plus brings to the sector the latest technology within a compact package that is clearly identifiable by striking new hood styling with integrated road and work lighting.

Powered by FPT F5 3.6-litre four-cylinder engines that are turbocharged, intercooled and feature commonrail fuel injection, and incorporate FPT’s Hi-eSCR2 compact emissions technology to meet Stage V emissions regulations, the new tractors produce up to 506Nm of torque (on the largest model), and have a fuel/DEF capacity of 128.8/9.6 litres. The Steyr Plus Transmission is a 40kph 24F/24R with two-speed powershift and electro-hydraulic powershuttle and is available with additional creep speeds. The Plus series tractors also benefit from a brake-to-clutch feature that allows one-foot drive disengagement and braking when, for example, at a road junction or working with a loader. A full range of STEYR loaders is available for the Plus series, which can be ordered with a complete loader package.

Capacity extended in multiple areas

Performance is further enhanced by a 25% increase in maximum hydraulic pump output from 64 l/min to 80 l/min and a 13.5% rise in rear hitch lift capacity, from 4,400kg to 5,000kg, while also at the rear is a new automatic pick-up hitch with hydraulic push-back to maximise visibility. Permissible gross vehicle weight has been boosted from 6,500kg to 7,000kg, and the new STEYR Plus tractors are available with a larger maximum rear tyre size of 420/85 R38, for greater traction and flotation, and providing 480mm of ground clearance. Depending on likely front equipment/loader demands, there is a choice of front axles: either standard Class 1.0 with improved steering and axle mounted Front Linkage or a new optional Class 1.5 HD offering additional width and carrying capacity.

Cab updates enhance driver comfort

Inside the revised cab, the STEYR Plus tractors feature new switchgear and a new digital instrument cluster which displays key operating data with clarity and ensures information can be monitored easily. The cab electronics are supported by new electronic architecture that combines precision with robustness. Comfort is assured by mechanical cab suspension that complements the seat suspension to ensure the operator is cushioned from jolts transmitted to the tractor over rough ground and worn roads. A new U-profile exhaust helps ensure unimpeded forward visibility.

Customers for smaller tractors seek precision technology

“One of the key points of customer feedback we received when planning this new range was that precision technology is becoming increasingly important at this end of the power scale in both agricultural and municipal applications,” says Ross Macdonald, product manager for STEYR utility tractors. “In response, we have engineered the new Plus series with the ability to be supplied with technology including S-Connect telematics and S-Tech auto guidance with automated steering. As a result, whether these tractors represent the only units within a business, or are smaller machines in a larger fleet, they can benefit from the same technology available on larger models, for full field efficiency, minimise operator fatigue and the provision of accurate data that helps make business decisions.”

Full availability of the STEYR Plus tractors in all European markets will start in the second half of 2024.
