Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, North America, South America, and Antarctica are the seven (7) continents of the world, and these continents cover about twenty-seven percent (27%) of land across the globe. Whereas Zealandia is a submerged continent known as the eight (8) continent of the world.

Once upon a time, these seven (7) continents were just a single continent named Pangaea. In billions of years, Pangaea gradually broke apart because of the tectonic plate shift and formed seven (7) continents of the world. Research says North America and Europe are still moving apart at the rate of seven centimetres per year (7 cm/year).
