History
Name Sillian has the Alpine-Roman origin and it comes from the word Silicana (floodplains). The oldest written record of Sillian comes from the year 1000, when it was called "Silan". Between 1440 and 1591 the landslide from the top of Sillian covered in a houses and fields and buried part of the medieval Sillian. Today a memorial in the eastern part of the village recalls the tragic events. Three floods in the years 1882, 1965 and 1966 caused that the other parts of the village Sillian got under water. Only with large buildings and protection against flooding on the river Dravathe danger could be averted during next years.

Natural healing resources
