Omschrijving
The Zwarte Zee was a long range towing and salvage tug, build in 1962 for the Smit International towage and salvage company, and was at the time the world's largest and most powerfull oceangoing tug. This creation is a scaled down version of the real Zwarte Zee tug which was build for the purpose of towing of objects over long distances and for salvage jobs. It is the second ship from the MPJ Shipyard!

Technical background

The Zwarte Zee (Dutch for Black Sea) is adequately equipped for succesfull salvage and towing jobs. On the towing deck in the winch room is placed a 500m winch with options for electrical or small connector or mag all. Placed in hatches on the towing deck are connections for electrical power, fuel bunkering and drainage of either the ships engine room or other ships via a hose.
On starboard a workboat is placed which can be lowered with the crane. Fuel can be transferred from the side tanks to the midship tank and vice versa (the midship tank spawns empty). In the aft a spare fuel tank is placed with manual transfer to the side tanks.
The accesibility of the technical areas and redundancy of the engines and generators allows for a high survivability. Most areas with pumps and pipes can be accesed and repaired.
The unique bridge passage mode lowers the masts and lowers the ship into the water, making is possible to pass under the rail bridges (pass under at reasonable speed).

Known issues

  • According to some users, when spawning the ship at creative base it might start freaking out because of the shallow water.

I was spawning it at Creative Base, a place where some larger ships have had problems with the shallow bottom in the past. I had forgotten about it, but when I read this I tried spawning it at Sawyer North and it was fine. So I'd say it's likely something is hitting the bottom or sides at Creative, and instead of you needing to hunt through it and look for an issue, all that's needed is a line in the description warning people not to try it from Creative Base.

I cant seem to recreate the rolling over, have you tried different physics settings?

Broken. Immediate rolls on its side when it spawns, looks like it's fighting a pivot somewhere. And that's without doing anything to it. If you delete the engines--I was trying to convert it to my own system--it lifts itself out of the water, spins around like a demented top, and rockets off into the distance.

So I noticed a list of about 1 degree to PS, I changed some weight positions and it should spawn straight again

Strange... I'll look into it

Something changed about this. I used it for several years with no issues, now when I spawn it in it lists heavily.
