WASHINGTON (AP/WJLA) - A sixth-grade teacher in Washington will apologize to students for asking them to draw comparisons between former President George W. Bush and Adolph Hitler.
D.C. Public Schools said the McKinley Middle School teacher sent students home with a Venn diagram asking them to compare and contrast Hitler and Bush, with instructions that said, "both men abused their powers."
At least one parent found it troubling, posting the assignment on social media and writing that it was "so wrong" to show disrespect for the office of the president.

D.C. Public Schools said in a Twitter posting that the teacher admitted to poor judgment and will apologize to students.

No DCPS curriculum says to make these comparisons in any way. A deeply apologetic teacher used poor judgment & will apologize to students.

In a separate statement to the media, D.C. Public Schools chancellor Kaya Henderson explained that the students are currently studying war and peace and "when conflict is warranted."
"The teacher deeply regrets this mistake, and any suggestion to malign the presidency or make any comparison in this egregious way," the statement said.
The teacher's name was not released.
