Genesee County students invited to enter Earth Day Photo Contest

Earth broke the record for the shortest day since atomic clocks were invented

Earth completed its normal 24-hour rotation 1.59 milliseconds fast on June 29, breaking the record for the shortest day in modern history.

GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission is inviting Genesee County students to participate in this year's K-12 Earth Day Photo Contest.

Students from kindergarten through 12th grade and student groups affiliated with a school district in Genesee County are encouraged to participate in the event for a chance to win an Amazon gift card.

Students are encouraged to show their creativity and share a photo that reflects the spirit of Earth Day.

Participants have between March 12 and April 12 at 5 p.m. to submit their photo. Only one entry can be submitted per class/student group, and it should be a joint submission on behalf of the class/student group.

Winners' photos will be posted on the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission's social media pages.
