even if the damage was subtle, i dont think our cars are cheap to repair with all the aluminum audi uses. im not sure if our quarter panels are aluminium, but i know the hood is. i have a buddy who owns a body shop and to get audi certification to repair cars with aluminium panels is quite costly. He has the only body shop in AZ that is certified to repair lambo's, r8's etc..

side note, he is also trying to get certified to fix tesla's. I guess there is only 1 shop in CA and 1 shop in NV that is certified to repair teslas and its about a 3 to 4 month wait.

Actually the engine didn't move at all luckily. But still way too much labor to fix.

Good to hear that he's alright a bit shaken no doubt.

As a side note, the front fenders and the engine hood are made of aluminum and with the aggressive angles of the vehicle - all the more reason to park far and away given the large number of horrible drivers in my area!!!

Glad your son is OK. The car did what it was supposed to do and gave its life to save his.

In the above photo, crash doing 130 MPH with no seatbelt, stupid people die all the time. The problem is they usually take innocent people with them.

the front and rear is supposed to crumble like an accordian. if you look at the cabin, its relatively in tact.

Not trying to shame you for not knowing, usually accidents like that are because someone is acting stupid, but the high speed crash with no seatbelt was actually an Army Sniper with ptsd... He was heading to the VA to get help at the time of the accident. I just think it should be made known so the guy is respected.

I can't wait for carbon monocoques to be common in everything.

Sorry to see this. That's pretty noticeable impact for 30 mph, seatbelts needs to be buckled up all the time. Hope your son is OK.
