Description

Around Lake Wörthersee, one of the warmest alpine lakes in the south of Austria, this trail running tour takes us to the hills south of Klagenfurt, which provide us with a view of the lake and the largest city in Carinthia that is well worth seeing.

We start our run right on the lake shore at Maria Loretto Castle.

We start our run directly on the lakeshore at Maria Loretto Castle: the former pleasure palace is surrounded by extensive Italian-style gardens and a lido. The first 2 km through the eastern bay are perfectly flat before the short and technically easy climb up the Schrottkogel, a popular vantage point for the people of Klagenfurt, begins. Shortly after the summit, there is an opportunity for a break at the Schrottbauer snack station.

We continue via the Migoriach meadow to the Goritschnigkogel. From here we have a clear view of the Sattnitz mountain range in the west. We then walk back to Klagenfurt and finish the tour at the Höhenweg bus station, from where we can return to the city centre.
