Innsbruck is one of Europe’s prime ski resorts and surrounded by beautiful alpine scenery. It's also the city from where Maximilian I ruled the Holy Roman Empire during the 15th century.
This legacy lives on in the picturesque old town, where baroque buildings with pastel facades and the imperial Hofburg Palace offer a glimpse into the past. Learn all about it at the iconic Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof), a building covered in over 2,500 copper tiles and built to honor Maximilian.
Flying into Innsbruck Airport, the Alps' snow-capped mountains tower on the horizon in every direction. The mountains are a playground for winter-sports lovers, with Nordkette Mountain featuring slopes fit for international skiing and snowboarding competitions.
This time of year is also popular thanks to Innsbruck's laid-back culture and wide selection of chalet-style bars and restaurants.
The summer, on the other hand, is ideal for hiking, mountaineering, and golf. If you're looking for another slice of regional history, be sure to visit Ambras Castle – an incredible Renaissance-era citadel once home to Archduke Ferdinand II.

Amazing mountains.

Amazing mountains. Lots of activities to do. The Innsbruck city card is such a bargain! The buses and trams are frequent and easy to use. Lots of food choices there too. Really beautiful city with small town vibes.

Innsbruck has a wonderful location: a charming, not so large city in the midst of spectacular mountains. The Hofburg palace is interesting, is nicely located in the midst of the city and adjacent to a wonderful imperial garden with beautiful old trees. The other main palace, Ambras, is also interesting. It is located outside the city, well reachable by public transportation and surrounded by a great, hilly garden. The picture galeries and ancient furnitures of these palaces do not reach the quality of the top European castles, but are historically interesting. Public transportation is excellent. The city is very lively, quite touristy, but also casual, a good mix of local people and visitors. Nice cafes along the river and the main streets in the city center. We ejoyed the food of Il Convento and the Trattoria de due Sicilie. Reservations necessary!
Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in.

Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in. It has a huge variety of restaurants, and great shopping if that's what you are in to. Public transport is excellent, and you can base yourself in the city and buy a pass that is valid for a number of city sites, the public buses, and 13 ski resorts which can be easily reached by bus. There is a funicular railway up to Nordketter, Innsbruck's own ski area. There is a very easy student/university vibe to the city at night: highly recommended

A relatively small city among the Alps.

A relatively small city among the Alps. The old town is absolutely charming and fully walkable, If the weather is good, a visit to the Hafelekar summit by the cable car Nordketten is not to be missed. Also, Swarowski World Wattens and Ambras Castle are at a 15 mins distance. Day trips to Munich, Oberammergau, Bolzano, Kitzbuhel and Zell Am Zee are easy.
It is one of the most beautiful towns I have been .

It is one of the most beautiful towns I have been . I decided to go there Bcz i had a direct train connection . But it was a wonderful place to have calm, quiet holidays enjoying the breath taking mountains and surrounding nature. It is a best place to sit quietly and read a book and enjoy the view of you book a place to stay around the mountains . But if you want to have the city vibe it is filled with people from different places and you can enjoy drinking some local coffee and tea and even wine and enjoy a local dish and taste local gin . The museums and artistic locations are best if you enjoy the local arts and crafts . It is a small town nestled in alps giving you a time to delve in .
