Bea Arthur Was A Spokesperson For A Canadian Pharmacy In The '80s And It's Truly Iconic

If it was good enough for Dorothy, then it's good enough for me!

You may have heard of Bea Arthur — you know, the star of Maude or most notably the tallest and sassiest of The Golden Girls.

Well, TIL that Bea Arthur was ALSO the spokesperson of a Shoppers Drug Mart campaign that ran from 1984 to 1991 — and I had no idea what to do with this information other than write about it!

It turns out that although she held a position against doing advertisements, Bea decided the campaign for the Toronto based store chain would be fun since it would never air in the States. She was truly iconic — her "take no shit" image gave way to 35 (!!) super successful commercials because who doesn't love Bea Arthur???
