Manner "Original Neapolitaner"

Manner

I used to believe that I didn’t care for most wafer treats. I used to believe that wafers were fine in a chocolate bar, but could never hold up as the main player in any treat. One of two things have happened over the last few years. I have either discovered vein of fantastic wafer bars, or I’ve started to develop a taste for wafer bars. I’m not sure which is true, but I can say that I’m really happy about the idea of falling in love with a type treat I used to not like that much.

The Manner wafer bar is one of the best examples of this kind of treat, in fact it might be the best example of a really tasty wafer treat. But you don’t have to take my word for it, as it turns out this Austrian treat is also the favorite treat of the most famous Austrian I know (still alive) Arnold Schwarzenegger. He apparently loves these Manner wafer bars and has included them in a few of his movies to prove it, but I’ll let you look that up yourself.

This bar works so well for two reasons, first of all the proportion of hazelnut chocolate between the wafers is absolutely perfect. The crunch of the wafer balances perfectly with the great flavour of the chocolate. The second reason this bar works is in the quality of the ingredients. The wafer is nice and crunchy and the chocolate hazelnut centers taste great. My only complaint with this bar is the occasional bite of sugary grit I get from the chocolate hazelnut. I’m not sure if it’s a manufacturing problem or something done on purpose, but I can tell you that it’s not very appealing.
