Large wooden box or chest with the dimensions: 41 x 32 x 13 cm. The entire chest is covered in leather and mounted with solid brass appliques and handles. The hinged cove mounted with a bronze plaque cast with a scantily clad lady next to a flowering branch. Red velvet interior. Lockable with the corresponding original key. The lid is equipped with a locking device - thus he can not fall. The box was made by August Klein in Vienna Graben Nr.:20. - Signed reverse of cover, see images. August Klein (1824 - 1890), started working as a bookbinder. In 1847 he established his own company in Vienna for leather accessories, which quickly became successful. August Klein received the title "Ritter von Ehrenwalten" in 1881 by the Emperor Franz Joseph I. A collector's item. Shipping insured with Austrian Post.
