I don't get dressed for less than $50k: Street style star Anna Dello Russo opens up about the cost of her fashion week wardrobe
Fashion editor and personality Anna Dello Russo is known for her lavish, straight off the runway outfits.
It’s always been obvious that the Vogue Nippon editor at large wears expensive clothes, but in a new video for Moda Operandi, Dello Russo claims that ‘I need…$50,000 [for] each outfit a day.’
According to calculations by Fashionista, that standard would amount to a $1.3 million wardrobe just for fashion month, if she were to only wear one outfit per day.
High standards: In a new Moda Operandi video, Anna Dello Russo (L) tells friend and fellow street style star Giovanna Battaglia (R) that she needs $50,000 for each of her outfits
Dello Russo, in fact, is known to wear multiple outfits per fashion week day, often changing between runway shows and parties to achieve the maximum impression on the many street style blogs that have made her famous.
The editor and her flair for serious fashion (which is often aided by odd accessories, like fruit hats and extreme high-heels) even once landed her a collaboration with H&M, which the retailer released worldwide last fall.
Pretty in Prada: Anna Dello Russo's Prada ensemble from last season amounted to over $46,400
Fendi Fur: Dello Russo's Fendi ensemble, worn in Paris, came to approximately $18,000
Dello Russo's statements might be a bit of an overstatement. Last season The Daily Beast calculated that her wardrobe for all of fashion month would cost anywhere between $172,779 and $200,379, if no discounts were to be applied to the clothes (which they likely are). The site's tabulations included a $44,000 Prada fur coat.
Moda Operandi's video, which Dello Russo filmed with fellow Italian street style star Giovanna Battaglia, was created for the e-commerce site's new campaign.
New blood: This fashion season Anna Dello Russo was spotted in head-to-toe outfits from designers including Balmain (L), Tom Ford (C), and Dries Van Noten (R)
‘The one that got away’ offers a series of interviews with fashion insiders who speak to the one outfit or item of clothing they let slip away, rather than buying.
As Dello Russo explained to Battaglia: ‘It doesn’t happen to me. I missed so many boyfriends but not outfits, darling.’
This past fashion month, Dello Russo was spotted in full runway looks from labels including Balmain, Chanel, and Dries Van Noten.
