Connectivity
FosPower's FIBER OPTIC AUDIO CABLE will ONLY connect with devices with a mini 3.5mm OPTICAL output/input. Research product specs to be sure this cable will work with your device.
NOT an analog to digital converter cable
This OPTICAL cable will NOT plug into your headphone jack and convert analog audio signals into digital audio with optical laser light. The center core is a plastic fiber optic cable with connectors on both ends with a jacket to protect it. It is specifically used to transmit digital (optical) audio. If you need an OPTICAL cable to go from mini-TOSLINK to standard TOSLINK, this cable will do the job. (NOTE: NOT A 3.5mm Aux Cable)
24k Gold-plated Ferrules
24k gold-plated ferrules that resist corrosion, reduce tarnish, and provide maximum protection for the fiber tip.
Quality Strain-Relief PVC Jacket
Quality PVC jacket contributes to the OD5.0mm strain-relief construction that not only provides flexibility, but also protects the cable from kinks.
Premium Fiber Core and Metal Connectors
Constructed from high quality low-loss, low-jitter, maximum signal transfer, precision polished fiber core that completely eliminates RF, EM, and ground loop interference. Coupled with heavy metal connectors to dampen vibration, FosPower Toslink cable completes your ultimate digital audio experience.

The tip covers are a nice touch since fiber optic connections are much more sensitive to debris and dirt. The overall quality is great though it didn’t fix my problem. For some reason my laptop will only send 2 channel sound to my TV via HDMI, not recognizing my Sound system’s 5.1 capability. I tried hooking straight into the sound bar’s ARC input and the computer won’t even recognize that as a connection so finally I decided to try the SPDIF port built into the headphone jack after discovering it existed through some system research. While the cable works perfectly, alas my computer can only send 2 channel sound through the SPDIF out. HDMI seems like the only option i have but since the connections are automatically brokered I have no way of pushing 5.1 to the TV even though it has 5.1 passthrough according to my research. long story short, good product.

Worked perfectly for connecting Echo Studio to TV output

I tried a number of cables and converters before I landed on a combination that served my needs. Hoping this saves other Amazon customers some headache. I used B07ZT7PFGX this converter and B00T8HWV62 this cable to connect the digital audio out signal from my TV to the Echo Studio. Do note that there is a card in the package that tells you that you can get lifetime warranty if you subscribe to their mailing list. The form needs the SKU which is not the Amazon item number. I had to dig my packaging out of the recycling to get the SKU - in case someone else needs it, the SKU is FOSCBL-2032.

chromecast audio has digital optical out!

I was trying to connect my chromecast audio to an audio IR receiver I got here (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BKX8BV7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). in trying to figure out how to do that, I learned that google included a digital optical audio out port in the 3.5mm jack of the chromecast audio device! I have the receiver connecting my TV to some JBLs (speakers and subwoofer) and I wanted to be able to wirelessly play music from my phone as well. I’m going to connect a digital optical audio switcher so I can have the TV and the chromecast audio feed into the speakers without having to unplug one for the other all the time. the cable works, and it feels high quality. it blew my mind that I could see the light shining through the cord once I plugged it into the chromecast audio.

Good quality and function

The cable seems well constructed and functions perfectly. I use it to connect a Google Chromecast Audio to an amp with an internal DAC of much higher quality than that of the Chromecast. Using the Chromecast 3.5mm output to RCA input (to amp) passes the analog output processed by the Chromecast’s DAC. Using a 3.5mm TOSLink converter cable passes the un-processed digital output to your amp or external DAC. This cable does the job flawlessly. Recommended.
