Dorfgastein is the northernmost and lowest ski area in the Gastein Valley, and it is directly linked to the Grossarl in the adjacent valley. The skiing here is almost exclusively winding slopes in the forest as most of the ski area is below the tree line. Perfect to aim for when visibility is poor or the wind creates problems on the higher peaks. Ski buses run between the different ski areas in the valley, and the journey from the centre of Bad Gastein to Dorfgastein takes about half an hour.
