Congress Centrum Alpbach - Trendsetters in Regional Sustainability Development

The village of Alpbach and the region Alpbachtal is situated amid the Tyrolean mountains in Austria surrounded by beautiful nature. The Congress Centrum Alpbach works closely with its community partners who share a common goal to drive sustainability throughout the region. The CCA works together with the local municipality, the tourism association, hotels and guest houses, and many other service providers to promote and support sustainable initiatives.

The Congress Centrum Alpbach recently received Green Globe Recertification.

Thomas Kahn, Interim Managing Director at Congress Centrum Alpbach said, “We are all very pleased to successfully achieve Green Globe Recertification once again. Each of us must be aware that we have a responsibility – ecologically and socially. Our daily actions are based on this and our future plans guided by this green ethos.”

Energy efficiency along with adjustable conference rooms were key criteria and natural insulating properties are incorporated in the building with electricity provided by 100% renewable energy sources.

The congress centre’s local roots date back to 1945. It has grown significantly over the decades and remains an integral part of the community. Alpbach is famed for its ability to blend tradition with modern trends. At the CCA, sustainable architectural design was considered during construction. The unique building is integrated into the mountainside respecting the traditional character of the alpine village. Energy efficiency along with adjustable conference rooms were key criteria and natural insulating properties are incorporated in the building with electricity provided by 100% renewable energy sources. State-of-the-art technology utilized for ventilation, heating and cooling, lighting, loudspeakers and projectors ensures long-term energy savings are made. In addition, the CCA supports eco-label certified products to minimize environmental impacts.

The pioneering spirit of Alpach is constantly seeking new solutions to implementing a workable framework for sustainable meetings. The CCA works with its partners to plan and advise customers on running events that are as resource efficient as possible. Take transportation for example, where the use of local buses is free for guests in the region or in the procurement of supplies and materials. Regionally sourced goods are preferred at the centre and regional dishes served as a salute to local farmers and producers.

Successful outcomes enjoyed at the congress centre are communicated to partners, suppliers, local businesses and the public who can all contribute to a much bigger goal – support and commitment to a more sustainable future.
