CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the first-time in her two-year career at the helm of the Illinois Wesleyan University bowling team, head coach Melissa Mutters has been voted College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Coach of The Year, Tuesday, March 21, as announced by the conference office. Mutters garnered the award alongside Augustana College's Marty Resner and Carthage College's Katleyn Zwiefelhofer.

In the program's three-year existence, Mutters led the team to several program best pinfall totals throughout the season. The Green and White earned a new team-best baker, total pinfall score of 883 against Elmhurst University at the CCIW Face Off, Feb. 4. This year alone, the Titans manufactured the program's top-five baker total pinfalls.

Additionally, under the guidance of Mutters, freshman Kiera Henderson (Silvis, Ill.-United Township) tallied the program's highest total pinfall (six games) with a 1,066 that was earned at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite, Jan. 29. At the same event, Henderson also tied the single-game best score with a 210. Henderson holds the record with freshman Tarrah Phillips (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine).

Mutters and the Titans will look to carry the momentum from their record-setting season into the fall as the Green and White will gear up for the program's fourth year at the lanes in October.
