As the title ‘little jewel’ suggests – Maishofen is a real gem nestled between the beautiful Zeller See lake and the Glemmtal Valley. From here, you don't have far to go to reach the Kitzsteinhorn and MTB hotspots like Leogang or Saalbach. Maishofen is your ideal base for a perfect MTB holiday. A dense network of over 400 kilometres (248 mi) of marked MTB trails for all levels await you here.

The Glemmtal mountains are inspiring. On the one hand, there’s an extremely extensive range of Tours available to you here, with everything from family-friendly bike routes to demanding, technically challenging mountain bike trails. On the other hand, the region has unforgettable natural beauty, mountain adventures and breathtaking panoramas.

Maishofen centre is the perfect starting point. Here, you can park easily, stock up on food and drink, while hotels and restaurants are never far away. We recommend starting at the church tower in Maishofen and explore the area in any direction from there.

Here is a brief overview of some of the routes on offer: the ride to the Kammereggalm, for example, is an ambitious Tour. This crisp route is an excellent way to mobilise your last reserves after a day of swimming at the lido and to really push yourself again. Are you in good shape? Then ride from Maishofen to Thumersbach up the 2,117-metre-high (6,946 ft) Hundstein, the highest grassy mountain in Europe that’s accessible by bike. Or would you prefer something more enjoyable? Then the well-maintained and mostly flat cycling route around the Zeller See lake is a good choice.

Other recommended mountain bike routes lead you to the Jahnhütte, to Gasthof Mitterberg or to the Örgenbauernalm. So, let's go – grab your bike and explore the Maishofen region on two wheels!
