The sun glistens on lakes below and you marvel at the breathtaking mountain panorama – hiking around Villach in Austria is spectacular. Close to the city, you can visit the lakes of Faaker See and Ossiacher See, with the option of enjoying fun watersports activities.

The region has six main hiking areas: Gerlitzen Alps, Dobratsch Nature Park, Dreiländereck, Verditz, Karawanken, and Nockberge. Each offers fantastic adventures and wonderful views. In this Collection, we've put together seven Tours, from short leisurely walks to strenuous mountain hikes – you’ll find something for you.

The route up the striking Mittagskogel will make you sweat, but the magnificent 360° panorama at the top is worth the effort. The GRENZgenial theme trail takes you to the border triangle of Italy, Slovenia and Austria, which you can also reach with the mountain railway.

On the Traumbogen High Trail, you discover the mighty Gerlitzen Alps and watch paragliders as they circle the Ossiach. If you're looking for an easy hike for the whole family, the Tabor loop is perfect. It’s also spectacular at sunset, when the sun paints the skies above Faaker See.

As you can see, there's a lot to explore in this region. So off you go – have fun and the lakes and enjoy the views.

P.S. The new barrier-free Skywalk in the Dobratsch Nature Park at car park 6 on the Villach Alpine Road offers wonderful distant views for everyone.
