Hiking Highlight
The manorial castle was once the seat of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Este, a nephew of Emperor Franz-Joseph I. Under the onion domes, a museum is dedicated to the life of its noble owner. A landscape garden in the English style surrounds the building.

The name Artstetten was first mentioned in a document in the middle of the 13th century. Very soon a castle emerged from the medieval fortress, which had different owners in quick succession until Emperor Franz I bought it in 1823.
