"'Marchfeld's weir', 'place of escape for the residents', a 'real fortress' are names for the castle in medieval documents. In the 15th century the castle was known as a moated castle, in the 18th century it became a fortress-like fortress The notches of Turkish sabers can be seen on the old inner gate.
