Tips
  • The Deutschordensschloss Gumpoldskirchen is a guesthouse of the Teutonic Order in the wine village Gumpoldskirchen. The castle dominates the church square with the adjoining Michaelskirche in an elevated position the market town.

An older fortification with two fortification towers are part of a Baroque, irregular and four-wing castle complex. The part of a fortification was given in 1241 by Frederick II the Teutonic Order. The castle was renewed in 1931 by reconstruction and rebuilding. In the course of the annexation of Austria to Hitler Germany in 1938, the castle became a research institute for viticulture and called itself First Reichsweingut. War damage occurred in 1945 and in 1946 it was returned to church ownership and was used until 1985 as a retirement home. After a comprehensive refurbishment in the years 1998 to 1999, the castle is used as a guest house.

  • The church square in Gumpoldskirchen is quite beautiful and also interesting for runners, with various paths in the vineyards, the water pipe route, which passes directly here, or several marked running routes (archiv.runnersfun.com/referenzen/orte-regionen/gumpoldskirchen /)

The large parking lot nearby is a good starting point for various routes on or around the Anninger and also the public toilet in the passage you can see as a runner.

However, I think that 3 highlights directly above each other are exaggerated and the individual buildings (Deutsches Ordens Haus, Altes Zechhaus, Melkerhof) are now of no particular relevance to runners. For the time being I have made a position correction that the highlights are moved to the respective buildings and you can see and click all, but actually it would be mMn. better to summarize all as "church square Gumpoldskirchen".
