Hiking Highlight
The small town of Payerbach is romantically situated in a valley on the Schwarza river. Particularly impressive are the high cliffs that delimit the place. Many hiking trails lead from here to the surrounding peaks. Payerbach is easy to reach by train.
In the 19th century, the region was a popular summer resort for the aristocrats from Vienna. Numerous villas were built, which can still be admired today.

Payerbach is a place steeped in history on the Semmering Railway in Lower Austria. There is a small Spar, a bakery, and a butcher in the village.

If you are interested in the history of the Semmering Railway, this is the right place, just follow the signs "Bahnwanderweg" and hike to the Semmering train station - 20km and 700m
