Night-time death from carbon monoxide poisoning
A 44-year-old man died of carbon monoxide poisoning in Pennewang (Wels-Land district) on Sunday night. An emergency power generator was apparently the cause of the tragic accident.

Carbon monoxide
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a poisonous gas that cannot be smelled, tasted or seen. This is precisely what makes it so dangerous: it can accumulate unnoticed in enclosed spaces and lead to death within a short time. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the most common form of gas poisoning in Austria, according to the Ministry of Health.

Any help too late
A 44-year-old man was resuscitated in front of the garden shed of a house. The wife had found the man motionless and called the emergency services. An emergency generator running on propane gas was found in the garden shed. The fire department also discovered the increased CO value during ventilation. Despite resuscitation attempts by the emergency medical team, the man tragically died at the scene of the accident.

Other people were cared for by the emergency services and subsequently by the
crisis intervention team.
