Correction: The original article stated that Post No Bills was the first and only late-night bar at the Barnyard. This was incorrect as the Irish pub O'Callaghan opened at the Barnyard in 2022. It's been a month since the Sand City craft beer house Post No Bills opened a second location at the Barnyard Shopping Village in Carmel, and owner Kye Ricks said it's off to a good start. "We felt we want to stay open late, we're going to have live music, and we felt this are was missing some of the nightlife. And we were trying to wake it up a little bit," the owner Kye Ricks said. Ricks is what some would call a success story in the restaurant industry, starting off as a bartender for the beer house before moving up to general manager and later owner, when he took over the business in 2017 alongside his wife Sarah Ricks and partner Michael Kohler. "That's the dream for most people, at least in the industry. Being able to achieve that was awesome," he said. With this new location, Kohler kept what people are used to — a constantly changing list of 14 different craft beers on tap. He even hung up a collage of local concert bills, a chandelier made of kegs and a colorful, spray painting to incorporate Sand City's artistic flare. But there's a lot different, too. This new space is significantly larger than the Sand City location, with a larger indoor sitting area, two medium-sized patios and a wooden vaulted ceiling. Even more notably, this location has a kitchen and sells a lot of pub-friendly food like giant pretzels, flatbread pizzas and crispy avocado spears. "We are changing our license and hopefully in six months we'll be able to allow families inside but for now we're still 21 and over at this location," Ricks said. Post No Bills is open from noon to midnight, Thursday - Saturday, and from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday - Wednesday.
