This afternoon Winchburgh's new M9 Junction 1B will open for northbound local access. Designed by civil engineers, Sweco, with Principal Contractor, RJ McLeod (Contractors) Limited, and Thomson Gray, as NEC4 Project Managers, it provides the first link in a chain of roads connecting Winchburgh to the major network on its doorstep and represents just one part of a £50m worth of investment from WDL into Winchburgh's wider transport infrastructure. Our Chief Executive, John Hamilton, said: "This first step in the opening up of the M9 motorway junction marks a significant moment in Winchburgh’s masterplan to connect the growing community to the surrounding transport network through core roads and upgraded bus services. Local residents, businesses, and visitors will be able to access routes across the central belt that have previously completely bypassed Winchburgh." I can't get enough of this video. This is the biggest parking-space for bicycles in the world which opened in the Dutch city of Utrecht last week. If we really want to make a difference when it comes to #urbanmobility we need such infrastructures next to every central-station and more of a holistic approach when we plan and re-structure our downtown-areas. source: https://lnkd.in/fitsyjd #futuremobility #mobility
